Where should I live?

You will have a number of goals and objective when deciding on where to live.

Some of these will be rational and some will be emotional. If you are a couple you might have different priorities so trying to agree can be fun!

- Lifestyle (Cafes, Bars, Friends)
- Family (Schools, Community)
- Work (Travelling time, Transport options)

Land = Location

You are far better off buying the worst house in a good street, than buying a mansion in a less desirable part of town. It surprises me how many clients gravitate to nice places in less desirable locations. Until you encounter the neighbours from hell, you don’t realise how important neighbours and the community around you are.

Aspect

It amazes us how many people do not look at the aspect of a property. Does it get sun and how much sun? What are the warm rooms in the house?

Do your Research

Investigate where you buy. Start by talking to neighbours and jump on Google and see what comes up. Go back to the house at night and check out street lighting and noise.

  • What is the neighbourhood like?
  • Is it quite at night?
  • Is there much crime in the area?
  • What happens when it rains?
  • Are neighbours aware of any future development activity?
