		<description><![CDATA[Occasionally it is worth diving under the skirt of invisibility to understand the dynamics that shape our retail banks.  For me, after 14 years in that system, I'm still fascinated by the competitive dynamics of retail banking.  For you the reader, it can give you an insight into how banks operate as well as what we might expect from them in the future.  It feels like 1998 all over again.  At that time I can remember the boss stopping the paper and getting rid of the pot plants.  Maybe we're not there yet but the environment is starting to feel the same
