First Home Makeover | Himikera finished!

Odds & Ends Written by John Bolton, Mar 28 2012

We've finally finished the renovation at Himikera. Took us a bit longer than expected but extremely happy with the result. It is now on the market for sale and some lucky punter is going to get a mint new home. If you're interested in doing a First Home Makeover this is an example of what can be done. In this case it was an extreme Makeover on an incredibly buggered house and you'd need to budget $150,000 for something similar. This isn't one our usual client Makeovers. What I like about Avondale Heights is that it is quiet and north facing. It has good access to the motorway and city (closer than Onehunga), has no state housing, and is on the up in terms of changing demographics. Avondale is a big suburb so easy to lump it all into one but a quick look at a map shows that it has distinctly different areas. If you haven't thought about Avondale before its worth a look around. Here is the front of the property.

Here is the living.

Here is the main bathroom ... the bath is behind the door so not visible.

Here is the master bedroom ... which has an ensuite with underfloor heating.

And finally the kitchen ...

What do ya think? It's listed on Trade-Me and for sale but won't last long. As a price indication No.1 Himikera sold for $550k and this one is better. At least that's my opinion.
