Bed,

Are you looking for a few easy ways to make your daily life that little bit easier? Here are a few of our own personal favourites for making your time at home a little more pleasant - and a little more chic to boot.

1) Silk sheets: not just for luxury

Silk sheets are one of those things that people think only ridiculously rich people have - but in reality, they are actually incredibly hypoallergenic. It fights off nasties that cause many people to sniffle, huff and wheeze. Dust mites, fungus, mould and chemicals can all end up doing a number on your body, which can be particularly unpleasant when you are trying to get to sleep.

Silk, unlike other common bedding fabrics, has natural defenses against these. So if you are finding it hard to sleep, it might be time to consider investing in some luxurious sheets. Allergies are a good excuse, after all.

2) Beating benzene: the power of plants

Benzene is a singularly vicious chemical that has been linked to cancer, and yet is still used in a number of common household items, such as paint, plastic, inks and rubber. While the amounts that you could be ingesting will be minimal, they could still be responsible for what is commonly known as "sick building syndrome", causing headaches, nausea and a general malaise whenever you are inside.

Thankfully, there is a natural solution. NASA themselves investigated the power of plants like peace lilies to filter out benzene, which also just happens to be a gorgeous addition to your interior design. If you're suffering constant headaches or have just freshly painted a room, it might be worth getting a few of these flowers about the house to help you out.

3) Kill clutter: eliminating stress

It's a well-known phenomenon among those who live in cluttered houses. Having to constantly dodge random bits of furniture or discarded children's toys can be a very trying and stressful experience. However, you don't have to suffer through such issues unnecessarily.

The simple addition of some clever space-saving storage solutions like wall-mounted cupboards or stackable boxes can get rid of that clutter and give you a more open room with more floorspace to boot. We already live in a stressful world, why let your home and sanctuary add to it?
