With over three decades of experience in banking and financial services, Brendan’s seen lending from just about every angle. Having spent more than 25 years at ASB, including 10 years in national leadership roles, he's worked across everything from residential mortgages to business banking and commercial property finance.

His years on the banking side of the fence mean he knows how lenders think, what they're looking for and how to structure a deal to give it the best chance of success. He particularly enjoys tackling the trickier lending scenarios, where finding the right solution takes a bit more than ticking a few boxes. Based in Hamilton, his local knowledge and strong connections mean we can better support clients across the Waikato.

Outside of work, he's a big fan of rugby, classic cars, motorcycling, New Zealand art and good food and wine. He's also got a charity boxing win under his belt, although he reckons his days in the ring are well and truly over. When it comes to comfort food, he’s a sucker for a good old-fashioned roast followed by trifle or bread and butter pudding.

How Brendan is paid

Brendan is a salaried adviser and is paid the same no matter which lender you choose, so there's no pressure or bias toward any particular option. At a company level, Squirrel is paid either upfront or through a combination of upfront and trail commissions by its lenders and insurance providers.
