Sam brings a sharp financial mind to the Squirrel team, shaped by an early career stint in tax accounting (enough to earn his Chartered Accountant stripes) before diving into the world of home loans. He started out as a credit writer at Lighthouse Financial and hasn’t looked back since.

Based in Auckland and working with clients nationwide, he’s fluent in financial bro lingo — but always keeps things in plain English.

Outside of work, you’ll find him rolling on mats (jiu jitsu), catching up with friends and family, or baking next-level brownies. They’re legendary. Just don’t ask him to cook anything else. 

Qualifications

Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and NZ Certification in Financial Services.

How Sam is paid

Sam is a salaried adviser and is paid the same no matter which lender you choose, so there's no pressure or bias toward any particular option. At a company level, Squirrel is paid either upfront or through a combination of upfront and trail commissions by its lenders and insurance providers.
